THERE WAS NO SIGN OF the person who’d tried to hurt or kill Eden with their car and all information led no where. Both cars, the blue one and the black that followed them that night were rentals reserved online for pick-up and drop-off. The rental place wouldn’t give them the information on the renter, something about privacy standards and some such nonsense. The police hadn’t made any progress either and Alastair was getting frustrated. A week went by and then another, making him feel after he’d offered the reward that whoever it was was too afraid to try it again.

He was on his way to a meeting in Glasgow when a call made his driver have to turn around. He looked at the cell and saw it was Saul, and then Callum was calling at the same time. Callum’s number was still up so he connected the call.

“I’m heading to Glasgow now, son,” Alastair said in lieu of hello.

“Turn around, Da,” Callum’s voice was urgent. “The police have a warrant to search Bacchus Distillery, some new fool came in trying to throw his weight around and Rohan checked him. He’s wearing handcuffs and Saul is trying to talk sense into this interim chief constable until Thomson comes back.”

“What in the fuck is going on in this bloody town?” Alastair said in frustration. “I want answers and I want them by the time I get there. Tell Saul to call Thomson and get him down there before he leaves for his vacation in the Caribbean with Linda. We’ll upgrade his flight to fucking first class if we have to, but I want to know who is doing this shit and I want to know now.”

“Understood, Da,” Callum hung up.

“Bloody Christ,” Alastair muttered. “Liam...”

“Turning around, sir,” the man said and in only minutes they were on the way past the hill to Fife, where the distillery was located. He’d put the business in the small town where he grew up to bring more jobs into the community, between tour buses that came in daily, the people who worked there and the bed-and-breakfasts he’d helped fund.

Fife was a great place for the distillery and his home near the ocean, but whoever the fuck was messing with him and his was going to taste his wrath when it finally came to light. Getting to Fife took more than an hour. If all three of his boys were out at the distillery there was some kind of elite tour coming in and the special reserve would need to be opened.

He didn’t know what time that was to happen but he wanted all the constables off his property before then. Alastair strode into the guest area of the distillery and upstairs to the onsite offices. The chaos was evident as constables went through files and drawers were pulled out everywhere.

Make sure they put everything back how the fucking hell it was,” Alastair told Joan, the office manager.

“Oh it will be all made to rights, sir.” Joan looked at the young constables with a sharp eye.
